Building a new PC…
// July 8th, 2010 // No Comments » // pc, projects
If you don’t know me personally, a few years back my friend Paul helped me build a PC to replace my old one. This was a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ dual-core CPU, 4 GB Ram, 256mb Graphics Card, 2 DVD drives (1 DVD ROM, 1 DVD R/W +/-) and a 250gb Hard Drive.
Recently this has been having trouble keeping up with my demands, playing Battlefield 2142 and Fifa 2010 for example, as well as messing about with large Graphics and building websites…
So I have decided to build a new PC over the next few months, I have already decided against buying an XBOX 360 as I want to prove my PC can be strong than this and more useful.
Right, so where is this blog post going? Well, I have officially started this project now and purchased the Case so I can start this project! (Below is the stock photo from Ebuyer.com, I will get another picture up this weekend!)
I hope to blog everytime I add to the PC and each part I buy and install, so please keep your eyes peeled for moreupdates on this!

This is my film of the year so far, simply brilliant!
Paella Time!
// April 1st, 2010 // No Comments » // food, nomnomnom
Recently I have been cooking more and more and the one recipe I have tried over and over is Sainsbury’s Summer Paella. Inspired by a brilliant “curry of the moment” blog by Mr Neil Mukerji – and as I have also been bring the remains to work and making my co-workers jealous – I though it would be good to blog how I “roll”…
I have now modified this (as all good cooks do!) to include more meat, and more onions! The original recipe can be found here…
So you will need;
Start by finely chopping the red onion and fry using the olive oil (for those of you living on Monkey Island – Use KNIFE on ONION then USE CHOPPED ONION & OLIVE OIL on FRYING PAN)

Now fry this for about 3-4 minutes or until it starts to go light brown.

Fry onions
Now add the 2 packs of Golden Vegetable Savoury Rice, immediately followed by 800ml water. (Note – my dad has also tried this recipe but at this part he adds 2 chicken stock cubes in the water for flavour – but I don’t!) Also add the handful of peas to the mixture and stir regularly.
Now turn to a lower heat and cook until the rice is tender and most of the water is gone.

Add the rice and 800ml water
Meanwhile, cut the Chorizo into slices, thin or thick – however you wish! Also chop/dice and de-seed the pepper. Fry these in a separate pan until they start to become crispy. Once they have – as the Chorizo cooks quickly, turn to a very low heat or turn off all together.

Fry the Chorizo & peppers
Add the Large Peeled Prawns to the Chorizo & Pepper mix- or any other meat you are using – and heat through for a few minutes (as the fish is already cooked).
Once the rice & vegetables are cooked and most of the water has gone, add meat and peppers mix to the rice pan, then warm through and serve immediately.

Done!
Hello World…
// July 4th, 2009 // No Comments » // food, nomnomnom
So, I have had this blog up for 6 months now but have keep putting off writing my first one – so my blog needs a bit of maintenance using more html, but it’ll get there in the end.
I thought I should keep the title of example blog “Hello World” just to be that extra bit geeky. This week has consisted of me learning how FBML (Facebook Markup Language) works and how to embed a Newsletter form into a tab on your Facebook fan page. I do love to learn new things but after I learnt this and added my form – and tested it of course – I wrote a guide for my work so that hopefully our clients can do this themselves.
So I have just finished the guide while watching Manchester United spank AC Milan 4-0 (7-2 agg) - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8558023.stm – while writing this guide, not a bad thing at all!
I have to say the highlight of the snow that we had has to be me walking out of the house to go visit my friend when I notice I will need to spend a bit of time first clearing my car;

Brilliant eh??! No it took me 10 minutes but my hands were cold for the entire drive to Chertsey… Brrrrrrrr!!
Also good news (I hope) I have just had a call offering me a free iPhone on upgrade next week – Woop!
That’s all for now, had to keep it short and sweet but I hope to blog once a week or fortnight.
Thanks for reading,
Mark.
